Home IT

Let’s find out
what’s going wrong.

Laptop taking its sweet time? Wi-Fi disappearing when you need it? Tell me what it’s doing. You don’t need to know what it’s called.

Computers & laptops

Slow startups, crashes and software that won’t cooperate. I’ll check what’s wrong before suggesting an upgrade or replacement.

Wi-Fi & everyday devices

Help with patchy connections, printers, email and getting your devices working together at home.

Setup, safety & backups

New-device setup, moving files, backup guidance and practical steps to keep accounts and devices better protected.

Repair before replace

Your PC probably
doesn’t need replacing.

Slow does not always mean obsolete. An affordable upgrade or a clean Windows refresh can sometimes give an older computer years of useful life without the cost of replacing it.

WIT will look at what is actually holding the machine back before recommending new hardware. If an SSD, more memory, a Windows refresh or a sensible repair is the better-value option, that is what I’ll recommend. If replacement genuinely makes more sense, I’ll tell you that too.

WIT Shop · Coming soon

Useful tech.
Properly tested.

WIT is preparing a small shop for sensibly priced everyday tech and properly described refurbished equipment. The aim is simple: useful hardware, honest condition reports and help fitting or setting it up when you need it.

Refurbished first

Most stock will be refurbished or pre-owned tech that has been checked, tested and honestly described before it is listed.

Upgrades & useful bits

SSDs, memory, SD cards, cables, adapters and other useful hardware can be new or pre-owned. Each listing will state the condition clearly.

Hardware + help

Buying an SSD, memory or another upgrade? Where it makes sense, WIT can also fit it, move your data or get the device set up properly.

What you can
expect from me.

Start with what’s happening and what you need to get back to. I’ll ask a few questions, then explain whether remote help or a visit makes sense.

You don’t need to arrive with a diagnosis. That’s my part.

  • I’ll explain what I’m changing.

You’ll know what I’m trying and why, without needing a translation afterwards.

  • Repair before replace.

I’ll look for a sensible repair or upgrade before recommending a new machine. If replacement really is the better option, I’ll say so. If it’s fine as it is, I’ll say that too.

  • I’ll tell you when you don’t need me.

If you can sensibly fix it yourself, I’ll point you in the right direction. If the job needs a specialist, I’ll tell you.

  • Costs are agreed before paid work starts.

If the job changes, I’ll check with you before doing additional chargeable work.

  • If I spot something else worth sorting, I’ll mention it.

Nothing extra gets added to the job without agreeing it first.

Remote support

Many software, email and setup problems can be investigated without a visit. You’ll need a working internet connection and a device suitable for remote access.

Access is only with your permission, at an agreed time. I’ll explain how to connect; please stay available during the session. If a hands-on visit is needed, the next step will be discussed.

Tech Check

Not sure what you need?
Start here.

You should not have to diagnose the problem before asking for help.

Tell WIT what is going wrong and get an initial assessment of the sensible next step. If it looks simple, you may get pointed in the right direction. If it needs proper troubleshooting, remote access or a visit, the options and price are explained before any paid work starts.

A useful first look, not a disguised sales call.

Hi, I’m Toby.

The person behind WIT Solutions.

  • 7+ years in professional IT support
  • ITIL 4 · GDPR training
  • Based in Stainforth
  • Local call-outs and remote support
  • One person accountable from enquiry to completion

I spent more than seven years in professional IT support before moving into systems administration. In that time, I’ve dealt with a lot of technology that worked perfectly well right up until someone actually needed it.

My work has covered Windows, Microsoft 365, networks, access, devices and infrastructure. WIT Solutions is me bringing that experience to homes and small businesses around Stainforth, with remote help available further afield.

When you contact WIT, you deal with me. There’s no call centre and no passing your problem around a team. I’ll work out what’s happening and tell you what I think makes sense.

That might mean repairing it, upgrading it, replacing it or changing one setting. I favour keeping useful technology working for longer when that makes financial and practical sense. It saves customers money and avoids unnecessary electronic waste. If you can sensibly sort it yourself, I’ll say so. If it needs a specialist, I’ll say that too.

Fill this in and WIT will receive your enquiry directly. No email app needed. You will get a WIT reference number on screen and in the confirmation email.

Got a screenshot, photo or short video? Send the form first, then reply to the confirmation email and attach it. Error messages, device labels, unusual noises and intermittent faults are often much easier to show than explain.
